Why Do The Abrasive Wheels Instructor Course?
The abrasive wheels instructor course is ideal for anyone looking to up-skill and deliver their own abrasive wheels training course. The course is a legal requirement under the Health and Safety At Work Act 2005, Schedule 14, regulation 213. This law states that anyone involved in the purchase & selection, storage & handling, mounting, dressing and use of abrasive wheels must be trained. This includes either fixed (e.g. Bench grinders or polishers) or portable (e.g. angle grinders).
The main aim of this instructor course is to help participants feel competent in delivering their own training course whilst having an understanding of the content associated with abrasive wheels safety. This includes being aware of the risks involved with abrasive wheels and to provide the skills and knowledge to use abrasive wheels as safely as possible

- Selecting the correct wheel for the job
- Inspection & testing of abrasive wheels
- Guarding of grinding and cutting operations
- Dressing and truing of abrasive wheels
- Functions of components, flanges, blotters etc
- Differences between grinding and cutting operations
- Safe mounting of the abrasive wheel
Learning Outcomes
By the end of this course, participants will have an understanding of all the above content and granted a 5 year certificate from Trojan Safety stating attendance and competence of the course. Upon successful completion of the course, each participant will receive Abrasive wheels course notes and presentations that can be used to deliver your own training courses.
