Why Do The Working at Heights Training Course?

The working at heights training course is designed for people whose work includes working at height as part of their duties, In particular anyone who regularly needs to wear a harness for fall arrest. Anyone attending this course will be showed how to prevent falls in the workplace and ensure the safety of individuals working in areas such as roof works, scaffolding, and ladders.

This course is essential under the Health & Safety authority (part 4 of the General Application Regulations) stating that all employees must be trained in the work they do, which in this case is working at heights. This course is designed to fulfil this requirement.

This course abides by Irish legislation, covering the fundamentals of safety around the use of fall arrest equipment and working at heights.


Course Outline

  • Legislation & Regulations around working at height.

  • Fall restraint.

  • Fall arrest.

  • Working at height hazard management.

  • Inspection of harnesses/lanyards/anchorage.

  • Selection and fitting of a harness.

  • Safe use of ladders.

  • Fall Dynamics.

  • Selecting fall arrest for working with MEWP’s.

  • Logging & maintenance of working at height equipment.


Learning Outcomes

Participants will be trained to work at heights safely. They will understand the legal requirements to carry out the work, how to select the correct equipment for their work and identify the dangers associated with the work. 


Certification

Participants will be granted a 3 year Trojan Safety Training Certificate stating that they have attended and completed the course.
